CRAWLING SPIDER - The Music Of Mike Montgomery & Paul Kossoff

We are extremely happy to announce that you can now find a special pre-release of the Crawling Spider lead single 'Stealing My Way' on CD Baby, Soundcloud, and Youtube! :) Please feel free to share with your readers, family and friends.
Stay tuned we are only just beginning!

A Sweet Pairing of Old Notes with a New Tune

The project is a tribute album to the songs that were written by my father Mike Montgomery when he played with Paul Kossoff and other amazingly talented musicians and bands. The songs will be re-recorded by former band mates, friends, and those that my Dad influenced through his songwriting.

I am working in partnership with Grammy award-winning blues drummer and producer Tony Braunagel and the incredible bassist/composer/producer Terry Wilson (both original members of Back Street Crawler), This is a project that is a long time dream that Tony, Terry, and I have been trying to get together for years.

More About the Music

Music is the common voice that keeps us all connected. We use music to communicate, to share and to unite to our roots. We utilize music to console us in hard times and help us celebrate in times of happiness. There is an undeniably strong correlation between music and people’s story in life. For my father music was everything, so I see no better way than to honor him with his own sound. Empower us to make this vision a reality by becoming a patron of this project today!

Who’s in the Band?

Our entire team are top-notch musicians, who have played on some of your favorite albums and toured with your most loved artists. We are all intimately connected to Mike Montgomery and Paul Kossoff and keeping their spirit alive through music. We love to make music, connect with people and reach all of the Spider and Koss fans out there!

About Me

I am a son on a mission to honor my father with his very own passion. I want to make this one big collaboration of music greats and the legends that surrounded my father. My father will be the common denominator amongst all of these talented individuals coming together to make music once again.

How You Can Help

For us to bring the “Crawling Spider” project to life, we need your support!

It will assist us with the cost of further development, manufacturing and production of the album; we are completely self-funded. More importantly you get the chance to be one of the first to hear the album. All net proceeds from the album (and any pledge amounts over the goal/budget) will be donated to our charity partner Nordoff Robbins (https://www.nordoff-robbins.org.uk/). We are committed to every Patron, making the most of every dollar funded.

The “Crawling Spider” project needs your patronage but above all it needs your attention and interest! If you love this music as much as we do then please take a moment to click on one of our social media buttons (Facebook, Twitter and YouTube at the bottom of the page). TEMPLE OF THE DOG COVER 'I'M A MOVER'

It may have taken them almost thirty years but the combined talents of Mother Love Bone (Pearl Jam) and Soundgarden have finally managed to play some dates in support of the album they released as Temple Of The Dog in 1991 (currently available as a Deluxe 2CD set).

The Mini tour consists of concerts in five US cities and opened at the Tower Theatre in Philadelphia where the band played two sold out shows on November 4th and 5th. I've known for a long time that bassist Jeff Ament is a big Free fan but I was surprised to be told they had played 'I'm A Mover' at both shows (and I guess they will play it at the rest!)

There is fan footage from various people on the nights in question to be found on 'Youtube' but here are versions of the track from the two shows. Thanks very much to the original uploaders 'areofan2007' (Nov 4 - top) and Jim Powers (Nov 5 -  bottom). Nice to see these tho' I do wonder how many at the shows actually knew what the song was! The set list also includes classic songs by Syd Barrett, Led Zeppelin, The Cure, Pink Floyd, David Bowie and Black Sabbath along with the material from the original album of course.

Mick Ralphs Recovering After Stroke

Sadly it has been reported this morning that Mick Ralphs is in hospital after suffering from a Stroke. There isn't much information at the moment but his family have issued a statement which says that Mick (who is 72 remember) is "receiving excellent medical care and is recovering in hospital".

The statement continues;
"Following the Bad Company UK tour that wound up last Saturday at London's 02 Arena, the family and representatives of the band's co-founder, guitarist and songwriter Mick Ralphs are sad to announce that Mick has suffered a stroke.
Mick is receiving excellent medical care and is recovering in hospital, although all his public engagements are necessarily on hold, pending his improvement.
Everyone is wishing Mick a speedy recovery, and further news will be announced at the appropriate time."

I know everyone in the FAS would like to wish Mick a speedy and complete recovery.

Happy Birthday Paul Kossoff

These anniversaries do come around don't they. And with the new Free remasters and 180g vinyl set now out its a real reminder of what we lost when Paul Kossoff died 40 years ago. However, today it would have been Paul's birthday and the 66 year old Koss could have been coming down the stairs in his slippers to cards and good wishes from family, friends and fans. Well, sadly that's not the case so lets do the best we can and play some Kossoff today.
A 'One From Each' recommended playlist below.
