As promised in FAS #140 here is the trailer from the 2015 film 'Demolition', starring Jake Gyllenhaal and Naomi Watts. This is not available on DVD in the UK at the present time. 'Mr. Big' is actually featured in the movie more than once. On this trailer it kicks in at around 45 seconds and it sounds AMAZING! There are shorter trailers but I believe this one gives a bit more of the feel of the film rather than just Gyllenhaal grooving away.
Reviews have been very mixed and while some critics have panned it (Tim Robey - The Telegraph April 29, 2016 / Wendy Ide - The Guardian May 1, 2016)) paying punters have been much kinder and it generally gets a 7/10. I particularly liked what Simon Hall commented under the later critique on-line;
'Ignore this bobbins review. Brilliant performance from Jake Gyllenhall. It's not imperative for a film to be complex / complicated.
This paints a viscera picture of what it feels inside when someone's
gone. And it's very funny....'
Synopsis:
Davis (Jake Gyllenhaal), a successful investment banker, struggles after
losing his wife in a tragic car crash. Despite pressure from his
father-in-law, Phil (Chris Cooper), to pull it together, Davis continues
to unravel. What starts as a complaint letter to a vending machine
company turns into a series of letters revealing startling personal
admissions. Davis' letters catch the attention of customer service rep,
Karen (Naomi Watts), and, amidst emotional and financial burdens of her
own, the two form an unlikely connection. With the help of Karen and her
son Chris (Judah Lewis), Davis starts to rebuild, beginning with the
demolition of the life he once knew.
