Free Appreciation Society Magazine - Issue #170

Free Appreciation Society

Magazine Issue #170

September 2023 Issue

Okay, #170 has just gone into the mail. This is the forth of five issues dealing with the reformation of the group in 1972, after they'd officially split in May 1971, and all done some solo stuff. The final piece of this section will come out in September.

The magazine here deals with the group, who now return to the UK after the disastrous American tour, and the release of 'Free At Last'. They actually came home and pretty much broke up again, but there were Japanese shows upcoming, so they briefly got together to try and work out the problems what had made such a nightmare of playing in the USA. However, all was not well and Andy decided he'd had enough, and quit just before the group were due to fly out. This section is covered here, and the story of 'Free At Last' concludes with Andy leaving. There is lots of press, reviews, press releases from the UK and America, and a very interesting interview with Fraser that was done during the US tour.

The magazine also begins our journey through the releases from the period. The 7" 'Little Bit Of Love', and the start of the 'Free At Last' album issues. Also featured is the Paul Rodgers 'I Just Want To See You Smile' single, that was released in Jamaica. Detailed information on the releases from the UK, France, Japan, Germany, Italy, Spain, South Africa, Israel, Brazil and more. With promotional variations and test pressings included.

52 pages here, many in colour. Lots of new information, photographs and clippings, and many things never used, or documented, in the FAS before. I hope you enjoy it.

Mailed out to all FAS subscribers in the UK TODAY.
