Bob Mortimer's Desert Island Disc's
Bob Mortimer's Desert Island Discs
Comedian Bob Mortimer has made a name for himself, alongside partner Vic Reeves, for his surreal and eccentric brand of humour. The pair have been on our screens for over 30 years, in a treasure trove of popular programmes including Shooting Stars, House of Fools, The Smell of Reeves and Mortimer and Randall and Hopkirk (Deceased).
After undergoing a triple bypass operation in 2015, Bob has branched out and now also works on a popular football podcast Athletico Mince, and his TV series with Paul Whitehouse, Mortimer and Whitehouse: Gone Fishing.
He loves the rock band Free (and so does Vic Reeves)
While Vic and Bob only grew up about 20 miles from each other, they
didn’t meet until later in life in London. They love the band Free, both
name-checking bass player Andy Fraser in their respective Desert Island
Discs. Bob says: “When I was about 13, I went to see this band called
Free, who I’d never heard, and I just fell in love with them. I found my
heroes. I stood at the front with my chin on the stage.”
He chooses
Free’s On My Way as his second track for the island.
When Vic was cast
away in 2003, he chose Mr Big by Free, claiming that his and Bob’s party
piece was to mimic Andy Fraser’s bass solo with their mouths.

Paul Rodgers 'Free Spirit' Release On June 22nd, 2018
The text below is from Paul's website, the track-list from Amazon. I do wish when this kind of stuff goes out to press they'd check it. Free played both 'Love You So' and 'Catch A Train' live numerous times!! In fact FREE played 'Catch A Train' at the Royal Albert Hall on February 10th, 1972! The only track on this set I'm unaware Free played 'live' over their career is 'Magic Ship', which is a really nice addition and was one of the show highlights.
The 'Free Spirit' tour seemed to split fans into those who enjoyed the shows, and those who didn't. Now everyone will have a chance to make up their own minds as to how well the material was performed on the last night.
------------------------------
On June 22, 2018 Paul Rodgers – Free Spirit – Celebrating The
Music of Free will be available on CD/DVD, Vinyl, Blu-ray and across all
digital platforms.
The 16-song collection recorded at a sold-out performance at London’s
Royal Albert Hall includes inspired performances of rock hits like “All
Right Now,” “Wishing Well,” “Fire and Water,” and many deep tracks—some
of which were never performed live by the original band, such as “Love
You So” and “Catch a Train.” Along with this collection, those who
purchase the Blu-ray and vinyl can expect exclusive footage and bonus
tracks from opening acts Jasmine Rodgers, artist and
multi-instrumentalist daughter of Paul, and Deborah Bonham, rock and
blues vocalist sister of Led Zeppelin drummer John Bonham.
“When I went down to London in ’67 I had three things in mind,” says
Rodgers. “To survive, to find peace of mind, and to make music doing it.
When Free came together there was a creative magic around us, something
unique and different. I felt again the strength of that magic on the
2017 Free Spirit Tour. Playing the songs we wrote, I felt the love and
recognition the fans have for this music. The band, the fans, and I
inspired each other to create and capture these moments in time.”
“We are very excited and extremely honored to be part of this
historic event,” says Bruce Quarto, president of Quarto Valley Records.
“This performance, perfectly captured in a variety of formats, is truly a
rare event that any Paul Rodgers fan will definitely want to watch and
listen to, over and over again.”
Paul will be performing with his solo band and a few select dates
with Bad Company in the upcoming months. Starting July 18, Jeff Beck and
Paul Rodgers will embark on the co-headlining Stars Align Tour,
with Ann Wilson of Heart serving as the opening act, along with Deborah
Bonham.
